tailors bunion

A tailor's bunion, also known as a bunionette, is a bony bump that forms on the outside of the foot, near the base of the little toe. It occurs when the fifth metatarsal bone, located at the bottom of the pinky toe, begins to shift outward, causing the bone to protrude. This misalignment of the joint often results in pain, swelling, and irritation, especially when wearing tight or narrow shoes. Tailor's bunions are typically caused by a combination of genetic factors, abnormal foot mechanics, or wearing improper footwear that puts pressure on the toe joint. In some cases, individuals may also develop a tailor's bunion due to an inherited structural deformity in the foot. Symptoms include redness, pain when walking, and difficulty finding comfortable shoes.

Treatment options range from conservative measures such as wearing wider shoes and using orthotics, to surgical correction in more severe cases where the deformity causes persistent discomfort or difficulty.
